Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, a Republican from Florida, has released an advertisement criticizing President Donald Trump's recent immigration crackdown. The ad, released on Thursday, comes just months after President Trump endorsed Salazar's re-election campaign. In the video, Salazar stated, "Mr. President, some of your immigration enforcement efforts have gone too far." She went on to say, "The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today."

Salazar emphasizes that she is not advocating for amnesty, but rather a dignified life for immigrants in the United States. She calls upon the President to enforce laws while not treating political exiles as criminals. Salazar's stance contrasts with Trump's previous support for her campaign, as evidenced by his praise for her representation of Florida's 27th Congressional District and his endorsement of her for a re-election bid.

The Congresswoman joins a growing number of Republicans who have publicly disagreed with Trump's policies. Trump has also targeted other Republicans who have broken from his administration, endorsing their challengers in primary elections, such as Ed Gallrein in Kentucky. Salazar's campaign plans to release multiple ads before the upcoming midterm elections, which she will face against Democratic nominee Eliott Rodríguez.

Both candidates are Cuban American and have backgrounds in journalism. Salazar's district is projected to remain Republican, with a significant foreign-born population.
