The Ghana Jollof arrest: Mystery surrounds midnight detention of Techiman mother

A bewildering incident has unfolded in Techiman, Bono East Region, Ghana, leaving a family in limbo and the nation in suspense. On Sunday, September 13, 2025, around 11 p.m., three individuals dressed in black uniforms stormed the home of Salomey Baffoe, a 40-year-old mother of three, and allegedly took her away. The family has not heard from Salomey since that fateful night.

According to Antwi Francis, Salomey's brother, the three individuals who entered the house were two men and a woman in black uniforms. They identified themselves as National Security and claimed they were taking Salomey to the regional command. Concerned family members were ordered to remain silent and watch helplessly as Salomey left the house.

The situation took a troubling turn when Salomey's mother was contacted by a man from the Kintampo South National Security. The caller accused her of being the mother of "Ghana Jollof," the mysterious and anonymous TikTok account that has been criticizing President John Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama. Salomey's mother vehemently denied these allegations, stating she was not the person in question and that her daughter could not possibly be involved in such activities.

The family, through their spokesperson Abraham Owusu Ansah, has strongly denied any connection to the "Ghana Jollof" account. They emphasized that Salomey is a nurse working at Abrafi Children's Hospital and that the family has no political affiliation. They have appealed to President John Mahama for intervention, urging him to help recover their daughter.

However, the Bono East Regional Police Command and Regional National Security operatives maintain they have no knowledge of the arrest. This contradiction has left the family questioning who took Salomey and where she is being held. As the nation waits for answers, one thing is clear: the fate of Salomey Baffoe remains uncertain, and her family is desperately seeking her release.
