'Thank you for the strong support,' says Tuanku Muhriz [WATCH]

On April 19, the state of Negeri Sembilan made a proclamation removing Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz from his position. This decision was approved unanimously by the state executive council and was subsequently gazetted. Tuanku Muhriz, however, maintains that he is still the lawful ruler and that the proclamation was invalid from the start.

He expressed gratitude for the support he received from supporters who gathered at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, chanting "Daulat Tuanku." As he exited the airport at 10:40 PM, Tuanku Muhriz was accompanied by his consort, Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani, and their son, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti. Earlier, the Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim had confirmed the approval of the proclamation.

The state government stated that the proclamation and the appointment of a new ruler, Tuanku Nadzaruddin, were valid under the state constitution. However, the Democratic Action Party (DKU) claims that Tuanku Muhriz remains the legitimate ruler and disputes the validity of the April 19 proclamation. The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) also disagreed with the proclamation, stating that the Menteri Besar and the state executive council lack the unilateral power to remove or vacate the position of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.

The AGC claimed the proclamation was invalid due to non-compliance with Article 10 of the state constitution, specifically the absence of evidence that any disqualifying grounds under Article 10(1) applied to Tuanku Muhriz.
