Ssangyong E&C Wins $2.15 Billion Singapore Hospital Project, Largest Single Order in Its History

Ssangyong Engineering & Construction has been awarded a $2.15 billion contract to construct a large hospital in Singapore, making it the company's largest single project to date. The Korean construction firm was chosen as the sole contractor for the Tengah General Hospital project, which was commissioned by the Singapore Ministry of Health.

The $2.15 billion contract is equivalent to approximately 3 trillion won, surpassing Ssangyong E&C's annual revenue of 1.87 trillion won. The hospital project will span across seven buildings that will be constructed on three basement levels and nine floors above ground, with a capacity of 1,534 beds. The entire project, including design work, is scheduled to be completed over a period of 63 months.

Tengah General Hospital is part of Singapore's national healthcare infrastructure development program and will be operated by the National University Health System. With only 11 construction companies participating in the bidding process, Ssangyong E&C emerged as the only Korean contractor to pass the preliminary qualification stage.

Despite offering a bid that was not the lowest, the company was selected over competitors from Japan and China. The selection was attributed to Ssangyong E&C's extensive experience in large-scale hospital construction projects in Singapore and its technical capabilities. This contract is expected to strengthen Ssangyong E&C's position in the Singapore construction market and provide the company with a valuable reference project in the healthcare sector.
