Kapital: Dette er Norges rikeste

Kapital's latest list reveals Norway's wealthiest individuals, both domestic and international, as well as former Norwegians with changed citizenship. The magazine aims to quantify the actual values of the country's wealthiest, unlike annual tax lists. Family names are often grouped under one name, including Ole Robert and Magnus Reitan, whose wealth comes from their father and shipping magnate Odd Reitan.

John Fredriksen tops the list, having risen from a ship's officer to one of the world's wealthiest shipping investors. His empire includes major stakes in Frontline and Mowi, and he resides in the United Arab Emirates. His twin daughters, Cecilie and Kathrine Fredriksen, both play roles in the family empire. Viking Cruise Line founder Torstein Hagen built the company into a major player in the cruise industry, taking it public in New York in 2024.

Hagen, now residing in Switzerland, remains an active board member. Aker Systems CEO Kjell Inge Røkke started as a fisherman in the US and built his fortune through fishing and Norwegian industries. Aker recently gained significant value with its stake in data center company Nscale. Odd Reitan opened the first Rema store in Trondheim in 1979 and expanded Rema 1000 into a billion-dollar empire, controlling retail, petrol stations, real estate, and investments.

Reitan lives in Trondheim, with his sons leading different divisions. Hedge fund manager Ole Andreas Halvorsen built his wealth outside Norway, starting in Tiger Management and founding Viking Global Investors in 1999. Halvorsen, now based in Connecticut, oversees billions of dollars in investments. Norgesgruppen, led by Johan Johannson, is a daily goods conglomerate with roots in a 1800s trade business.

Johannson, a media-savvy individual, downplays his leadership role. Andresen, fifth generation in the Andresen tobacco family, sold the business and now manages Ferd, a billion-dollar investment firm. Gustav Witzøe founded Salmar on Frøya in 1991, turning the company into one of Norway's wealthiest through salmon farming. His son, Gustav Magnar Witzøe, took over leadership roles.

Caroline Marie Hagen Kjos, the richest woman in Norway, holds a 30.05 billion kroner fortune, following a family wealth transfer from her late father, Stein Erik Hagen.
