Russia resumes ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine; 18 hurt in Kiev

Russia has resumed ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine, causing injuries and damage across several cities. The assault resumed after a brief silence, with up to six repurposed Zircon anti-ship missiles fired at Kiev early on Thursday. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, at least 18 people, including children aged 10 and 12, were injured.

Damage was reported to office buildings, a warehouse, residential structures, and an administrative facility, with problems in water pressure across several districts following the attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the strikes, detailing damage to energy infrastructure in Sumy and Odessa regions, and residential buildings in Kiev and Odessa.

Eight Ukrainian regions, including Dnipro and Zaporizhzhya, also suffered ballistic missile strikes, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. In response, Ukraine launched drone attacks on Russian targets, damaging an oil refinery in Yaroslavl and a military airfield in Rostov region. Several aircraft and helicopters sustained damage.

While the claims could not be independently verified, Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevrayev confirmed the refinery damage and a subsequent fire, stating that 65 drones were intercepted. Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar reported a massive aerial attack, with a fire that was eventually extinguished; however, he did not provide further details.

Power disruptions in Rostov-on-Don led to damaged residential buildings from falling drone debris. Additionally, several Russian airports temporarily restricted operations due to the conflict.
