Qatar Permanent Representative in Geneva participates in interactive dialogue on women, children human rights in conflicts

In Geneva, Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, engaged in an interactive dialogue on the human rights of women and children affected by conflicts. In her statement to the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council, she emphasized that safeguarding women and children during and after armed conflicts is a top priority for Qatar's foreign policy, diplomacy, and humanitarian efforts.

Dr. Al Muftah highlighted that Qatar has initiated several international efforts, such as Resolution 60/19 in collaboration with Costa Rica, aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of women and children in conflict and post-conflict scenarios. Additionally, the State of Qatar launched the Women in Conflict Zones initiative in September 2022 to enhance the protection of women and ensure their active involvement in peace processes.

The Permanent Representative also mentioned Qatar's role as the host of the Analysis and Outreach Hub of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, which supports prevention and monitoring efforts related to grave violations against women and children.

She reiterated Qatar's call for all parties involved in conflicts to adhere to their obligations under international law, immediately cease severe violations committed against women and children, and ensure justice. Dr. Al Muftah stressed the significance of holding perpetrators accountable and providing victims with effective remedies and reparations, as outlined by international law.
