Putrajaya perlu berkompromi, kata Nanta berhubung pelarasan BUDI Diesel

Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi has stated that the Malaysian government must strike a balance between economic management and alleviating public hardship when adjusting subsidy policies. In support of the latest changes to the BUDI Diesel eligibility transfers, Nanta emphasized that economic factors cannot be assessed in isolation when policies impose additional strain on citizens.

Following the transfer of a retendered Customs Enforcement Office s Seizure Storage construction project site, he told the Dayak Daily that while reducing subsidies might be economically painful, the government must consider the public's demands and make compromises to reduce their burden.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced on Malaysia Day that BUDI Diesel recipients could now transfer their eligibility to any Malaysian currently benefiting from the BUDI95 scheme, a move that broadened the eligibility transfer criteria from immediate family members. The adjustment came after the BUDI Diesel monthly quota was increased from 300 to 400 litres on August 31, following complaints from pickup and jeep owners in Sabah and Sarawak.

Nanta expressed his support for any refinements that would provide financial relief, reiterating that the primary objective of government subsidies is to assist the public.
