Punjab Education Minister Rejects 3-Day School Closure Plan

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has dismissed the idea of a three-day school closure week, stating that it would not yield any substantial savings. During an interview, Hayat revealed that no such proposal had been submitted to him in his role as Punjab’s education minister. He urged the federal government to waive any such restrictions and permit schools to follow their standard academic routine.

The minister argued that closing schools on Fridays would have minimal impact on fuel usage or other costs, as the majority of students at both government and private schools walk to school, making up around 90% of the student body. Hayat emphasized that the education sector should be spared from such measures and that schools should remain open on all designated teaching days.
