Out of Pocket: Detailing our everyday carry

Building a "kit" or "pack" that contains enough essentials to handle any situation has become a passion for many, including the author. This practice, known as Every Day Carry (EDC), involves a collection of gadgets and items that are carried around daily. The author began with smartphones, moved on to earbuds, and gradually amassed a variety of devices. They are always searching for new additions to enhance their EDC.

The author highlights their search for the perfect sidebag or sling to carry their personal belongings. They currently own a Bellroy Venture Ready sling, but it is too small to accommodate their EDC needs. However, the TomToc T33 sidebag is an excellent alternative with more pockets, exceptional internal organization, and interior sections.

It can hold a small water bottle, paracetamol, lip balm, a small tablet or notebook, documents, and even a keychain and house keys. The sidebag is waterproof, making it ideal for rainy days, and features smooth zippers, waterproof seams, and numerous carabiner anchor points for attaching additional items.

Power banks are also a crucial component of the author's EDC. They use a Magsafe-compatible power bank with a Qi2 certification for faster and more efficient charging speeds. Although it is a bit bulky, it provides enough power for a full charge on most phones. The author also carries a super short USB-C cable for charging when they need 20W or above.

Additionally, they have an e-reader, the Boox Go 6, which is small, inconspicuous, and perfect for reading novels, documents, or downloaded webpages. It is lightweight, affordable, and features a magnetic flip case for easy storage and use.
