No politics behind fuel export reduction to Sahel – BOSTenergies

BOSTenergies Limited has clarified that the reduction in fuel exports to Burkina Faso and Mali is not politically motivated or related to security concerns. According to Managing Director Afetsi Awoonor, the company is simply managing its export business to ensure it has sufficient fuel for its domestic market first. The Reuters report, which suggested political or diplomatic reasons for the supply cuts, is inaccurate, according to BOSTenergies.

The company insists Ghana does not face a fuel shortage and has not implemented any rationing measures. The decision to reduce regional exports is primarily due to ongoing renovations at its Bolgatanga depot, the main gateway to the Sahelian market. Despite this temporary reduction, BOSTenergies is transporting fuel to the north using bulk road vehicles from its coastal depot in Tema.

This alternative supply route ensures continued fuel availability while the main depot undergoes renovations. Once the Bolgatanga depot is completed, the company expects its full regional supply capacity to be restored. BOSTenergies remains committed to supporting fuel security across Ghana and is working with government partners to expedite the depot renovation.

The company also pledges to maintain transparency with the media and public regarding its downstream petroleum sector developments.
