Monster Hunter Wilds upcoming expansion, Ascendance, reveals an infamous returning monster - and it looks like it'll address the difficulty complaints

Capcom has announced that the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds expansion, Ascendance, will introduce an infamous returning monster to the fray - Teostra. The blast-loving leonine Elder Dragon first appeared in Monster Hunter 2 back in 2006, known for its fiery attacks and flame breath that pushed the PS2 technology to its limits. In the latest trailer for Ascendance, displayed at Tokyo Game Show, Teostra seems even more challenging than before, with new offensive capabilities and a charged follow-up to its signature move.

Capcom also revealed a new tool, the Boost Bracer, which allows players to build up energy by playing aggressively with their attacks, then activate Boost to use enhanced abilities like new combos and stronger attacks. This new feature aims to give players more control over powerful threats, potentially allowing them to dodge blasts, counter attacks, and unleash powerful combos.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance players can expect further gameplay refinements such as faster weapon swapping without the need for a Seikret mount, changing equipment outside the tent using the Item Box, and other improvements. These changes will also be available in the base game. The expansion is slated to launch in 2027, and players can currently experience the game on Switch 2, which launches on December 4th.
