Mets' Jefry Yan returns to pitch three perfect innings against Orioles: 'I felt like I was getting better and better'

Jefry Yan, a member of the Mets' bullpen, returned to action against the Orioles on Wednesday, delivering a remarkable performance. Replacing the injured Daniel Duarte, Yan pitched three perfect innings, striking out three batters and throwing 32 pitches. He had not allowed a baserunner and gave the Mets a perfect inning. Yan expressed his growing confidence, stating, "I felt like I was getting better and better," and explained that he had to adjust his approach to limit walks when he was optioned down to the minors.

Despite the defeat, Yan's strong performance helped the Mets reset their bullpen, which had been struggling earlier in the game when starter Xzavion Curry allowed six runs in the first three innings. The Mets optioned Yan back on September 6, aiming to give him experience in the minors. Interim manager Andy Green emphasized that Yan needed to focus on strikes and pitch the zone, which he did effectively in his return game.

Yan's three perfect innings, along with Jack Weisenberger's three frames, should provide a fresh bullpen when the Mets face the Phillies in their four-game series.
