Mark Walter and Todd Boehly sell Chelsea stakes to Clearlake

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly and director Mark Walter have sold their respective 12.8% stakes in the club to majority owner Clearlake Capital. Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss also divested his stake, marking Clearlake's full control of the club. Boehly and Walter, who previously held a combined 25.6% of Chelsea's shares, will depart their roles as chairman and director, respectively.

Clearlake had already owned 61.5% of the club, which was acquired from Roman Abramovich in 2022 for £2.3 billion. Boehly, a co-owner of Major League Baseball team the Los Angeles Dodgers, expressed gratitude for his time as chairman and acknowledged the collective decisions and investment that have supported Chelsea's success. Clearlake's co-founders, Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano, thanked Boehly for his contributions and committed to continuing investments in Chelsea's infrastructure, player development, and long-term success.

Despite tensions arising from Chelsea's ongoing plans to redevelop Stamford Bridge or move to a new stadium, there are no changes to the club's day-to-day operations following Clearlake's acquisition.
