Macklemore, the American rapper, has pledged $1 million of the earnings from his Ed Sheeran tour to support Palestinian organizations. This move comes after he was dropped from the tour due to comments he made in support of Palestine during two shows at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The rapper, who called for a "free Palestine" and expressed concern for people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, challenged billionaire Robert Kraft to match his donation.
Kraft and Sheeran have since each pledged $2 million towards humanitarian aid in the region. Macklemore's challenge underscores his commitment to Palestinian lives, stating that "a Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth." The controversy surrounding the US leg of Sheeran's tour has led to a combined pledge of $5 million so far.
