Loke Siew Fook, Deputy President of the DAP, has urged all Negeri Sembilan State Government Exco members to take up their positions again if they do not reaffirm their allegiance to Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar. This comes after the exco recently swore a new oath before Tuanku Muhriz following the formation of the new state government after the PRN election.

Loke also questioned the exco's authority to proclaim the reduction of Tuanku Muhriz's throne and appoint a new regent. He stressed that, according to democratic parliamentary principles and respect, they should relinquish their positions if they no longer acknowledge Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar.

The exco recently declared the reduction of Tuanku Muhriz's throne on April 19th of last year as valid and acknowledged Tuanku Nadzaruddin as the new Yang Di-Pertuan Besar. However, the state Minister of Finance, Ismail Lasim, today confirmed the exco's decision by a simple majority in a recent exco meeting, requesting the state administrative officer to continue the process of confirming the proclamation in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Yet, the Negeri Sembilan Law and Justice (DKU) emphasized that the exco's decision lacks legal effect as matters related to the selection, appointment, removal, and dismissal of the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar fall under their jurisdiction as per Section XVI of the State Constitution Body Act 1959, and Tuanku Muhriz remains the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar.
