Liverpool have secured their world-class midfielder, but they need to finalize the contract. The club had been unable to sign a midfielder during the summer transfer window, with Curtis Jones being sold and not replaced. Despite struggling to control games last season, Liverpool attempted to sign a midfielder only if another option left, which resulted in the departure of Alexis Mac Allister.
However, Mac Allister has proven to be a standout performer in midfield, leading the team in tackles per 90 minutes (3.7) and scoring important goals against top teams like Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur. His tackle rate is top 10 across all positions in the Premier League and top 5 for midfielders. This has made him an essential first-choice option for Liverpool, and now, he shows signs of being world-class, potentially even becoming their best player.
With this in mind, it seems inevitable that Mac Allister will be the focal point for contract talks in the near future.
