(LEAD) N.K. leader's sister dismisses IAEA's denuclearization calls, reiterates nuclear status

Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, dismissed calls for denuclearization by international bodies on Thursday. She labeled such demands as mere "all noises," a phrase she deemed unsurprising and unsurprising in nature. The North Korean regime, under her brother's leadership, firmly maintains its nuclear status, which Kim Yo-jong deemed "absolute," according to a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The remarks came as the 70th regular session of the IAEA General Conference is currently underway in Vienna, Austria, a session that has been marked by concerns over North Korea's expanding nuclear capabilities. The IAEA has urged Pyongyang to dismantle its nuclear weapons program in full compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

In anticipation of the conference, the agency published the Director General's Safeguards Report on North Korea, which highlights a significant surge in Pyongyang's uranium enrichment capacity and the expansion of its key nuclear facilities. Despite these concerns, Kim Yo-jong maintained that calls for denuclearization are futile, as North Korea's nuclear ambitions remain unshaken.
