Key defender out vs UCLA, first Purdue football injury report shows

Purdue football faced two starter absences in their recent loss to Wake Forest, and the same trend seems likely for their upcoming matchup against UCLA. The Boilermakers will take on the Bruins at 11 p.m. Saturday at the Rose Bowl Stadium. However, a notable starter who left the Wake Forest game early does not appear on Purdue's initial injury report for the season.

Left guard Brock Brownfield exited the game in the first quarter and was substituted by Marques Easley, but he is not part of the initial injury report released by Purdue for the upcoming game. Defensive back Mister Clark, who played for Purdue in their opening game against Indiana State, is listed as out. He did not participate in the Wake Forest game.

Tight end Kylan Fox and defensive back Raderrion Daniels, previously announced as season injuries by coach Barry Odom, are also included in the report alongside Clark. Joey Tanona, who started all 12 games at left tackle last season, is dealing with a left ankle injury that began early in training camp. Tanona was expected to recover and play in Purdue's game against Indiana State on September 4th.

He is currently considered doubtful for the UCLA match. Defensive end Elo Modozie, a transfer from Georgia who has made 25 appearances in Purdue's first two games, is listed as questionable based on the Wednesday night injury report. New protocols for Big Ten games this season have altered injury report submissions. Unlike previous seasons, where teams provided one report two hours before kickoff, the Big Ten now requires four distinct reports, due at 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, as well as two hours prior to Saturday's kickoff.
