Policeman Hanyan Ramlan of Kuala Muda thanked the public for their assistance in apprehending four men armed with weapons and sharp instruments who entered a jewelry store in Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani, last night. The head of the Kuala Muda Police Station reported receiving a call at 7.20 pm from the public about the incident that occurred in the mall building.

Initial investigations revealed that a group of men rode on two motorcycles, with two suspects entering the store while the other two waited outside. They broke the display windows and took items from inside. The total loss is still under investigation, but an initial estimate ranges between RM700,000 to RM1 million, according to Bernama.

Hanyan stated that two employees of the jewelry store present during the incident did not sustain any injuries. The public also helped in seizing some belongings believed to be of the suspects and handed them over to the police. He thanked the community for their efforts, but advised that caution should be exercised after assisting, as suspects might have more dangerous weapons.

He reminded the public to collect information from witnesses, including physical features, body shape, speech, or any suspicious information before the incident. He also clarified that the jewelry store had been robbed in 2024 with an estimated loss of RM1 million. The investigation is being conducted under Section 395 and 397 of the Police Force Act.
