Jomoro Education Director applauds Dorcas Affo-Toffey’s scholarship support for SHS students

Edith Mary Hagan, the Municipal Director of Education for Jomoro in the Western Region, praised Member of Parliament Dorcas Affo-Toffey for her dedication to supporting bright but financially challenged students entering Senior High School (SHS). Mrs. Hagan explained that every September, many families struggle to afford basic necessities for their children's education, such as mattresses, trunks, chop boxes, and mosquito nets.

The annual scholarship initiative by MP Affo-Toffey has supported over 1,000 students from 111 public and private schools across the Jomoro constituency in 2026 alone. These funds help families overcome financial barriers and enable deserving students to begin their SHS journey with dignity and essential equipment. Mrs. Hagan emphasized that the initiative not only provides immediate relief but also prepares students for their academic journey.

She highlighted that the long-term impact of education could extend far beyond the beneficiaries, urging stakeholders to view educational support as an investment in society. Mrs. Hagan urged the students to take good care of the items they received and use them for their intended purposes, emphasizing the importance of discipline and focus in their studies.

She also challenged the students to replicate the gesture in the future and support other needy students when they become successful. The President of the Western Nzema Traditional Council expressed satisfaction with MP Affo-Toffey's contributions to education in the community, calling her a pace setter. MP Affo-Toffey assured the education director and the chief of her continued support and called for constituency support to commission further educational projects.
