House Passes Rp240.2tn Budget for Free Meal Program 2027

The House of Representatives Commission IX has approved a budget of Rp240.2 trillion for the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in fiscal year 2027 to fund its flagship free meal program. This consensus was reached during a joint hearing with the BGN's Head and the Head of the Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) on September 17, 2026. The budget is divided between two core programs: national nutrition fulfillment, which accounts for Rp232.8 trillion, and administrative management support, which amounts to Rp7.3 trillion.

The budget allocation also includes specific funds for various departments. The Deputy for Supply and Distribution receives the largest share, at Rp232.5 trillion, while other Echelon I units receive allocations such as Rp7.2 trillion for the Secretariat General and Rp35 billion for the Inspectorate General. Additionally, funding is designated for the Data and Information Center (Rp154.4 billion) and the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Office (Rp38 billion).

BGN Head Sudaryono initially proposed a budget of Rp232.5 trillion for the 2027 nutrition provision and distribution program, aiming to serve 72,464,886 beneficiaries nationwide. These beneficiaries include school children, toddlers, pregnant women, and nursing mothers. The budget breakdown indicates that 60,599,777 beneficiaries will receive nutrition support in schools, while 11,865,109 individuals will be targeted in the support for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and toddlers.
