Hanwha, EDGE to build UAE's integrated air defense network

Hanwha Systems has entered into an agreement with the United Arab Emirates' state-run defense conglomerate EDGE to develop an integrated air defense network. The network will encompass long- and medium-range capabilities, as well as counter-drone defenses. On Tuesday, the CEOs of Hanwha Systems and EDGE signed a term sheet for the project during a ceremony in Abu Dhabi.

The term sheet outlines the direction of the project and the review agendas at each stage. Hanwha Systems and EDGE intend to finalize the project details in accordance with the direction of defense cooperation between the two nations. After obtaining government approvals and conducting consultations, the two companies will establish a local joint venture and discuss its operation and local production.

Through this partnership, Hanwha Systems aims to broaden its role from supplying individual weapons systems to becoming an integral part of the integrated air defense network. This will be achieved by connecting ground weapons systems, such as the Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers.
