Gachagua accuses Ruto of targeting Muthaiga Golf Club in Karura Forest land dispute

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto of targeting the Muthaiga Golf Club in a land dispute related to a portion of the Nairobi-based facility. Gachagua alleged that President Ruto is using the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) to seize part of the golf course. In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Gachagua claimed that club members informed him of the alleged plan by Ruto and the KFS.

Gachagua noted that the Muthaiga Golf Club has been in existence since before Kenya's independence, questioning the grounds for the current dispute. He also noted that previous presidents respected private property and established institutions, urging the current administration to do the same. The controversy escalated after KFS restricted access to the golf course, claiming it fell within Karura Forest.

Gachagua warned that he would oppose any attempts to grab Muthaiga Golf Club and other land in the country, threatening legal consequences for KFS officials involved. He also expressed concerns about other golf courses potentially being targeted.
