Exco sebulat suara putus penurunan takhta Tuanku Muhriz, kata MB

Pengerusi Dewan Negeri Sembilan Ismail Lasim has confirmed that the decision to remove Tuanku Muhriz from his position as the Yang Di Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan was unanimously decided by the Executive Committee (exco) members. This decision was made during an exco meeting on September 15th last year. The minister stated that the state government has also been asked to continue the process of implementing the proclamation according to the existing regulations.

He affirmed that the decision had been discussed and agreed upon by all exco members during the exco meeting on September 15th. He also declined to answer questions from the media.

Earlier, the state exco announced that the proclamation of Tuanku Muhriz's abdication was valid and acknowledged Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar as the new Yang Di Pertuan Besar. According to him, the proclamation was signed and certified by the State Law (DKU) Negeri Sembilan on April 19th. However, the State Justice and Law (DKU) Negeri Sembilan Raja Norazli Raja Nordin clarified on Tuesday that the exco's decision does not have legal effect as it falls outside the jurisdiction of the state government.

He added that matters related to Malay customs, including the selection, appointment, removal, and punishment of the Yang Di Pertuan Besar and the law, fall under the jurisdiction of the state according to Persekutuan XVI Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Negeri Sembilan 1959 (UUTKNS). Raja Norazli also stated that state officers should not act on orders to remove Tuanku Muhriz from the throne, as such action contradicts UUTKNS and the council's directives.
