DTI inaugurates Academic Council, Industry Advisory Committees to strengthen TVET delivery

The Design and Technology Institute (DTI) has officially established its Academic Council and Industry Advisory Committees, aiming to enhance the quality of academic programs and ensure alignment with industry requirements. This significant move took place at the DTI's Awalete Campus in Mempeasem, East Legon, as the Institute prepares for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year.

The Academic Council, serving as the Institute's top academic authority, is tasked with maintaining the quality, integrity, and relevance of DTI's educational programs, adhering to the standards set by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), the National TVET Qualifications Framework (NTVETQF), and international certification bodies like AWS SENSE, Pearson, and NOCTI.

Meanwhile, the Industry Advisory Committees will bring direct industry insights into DTI's curriculum development. A total of 40 industry professionals have been appointed across four committees, each focusing on Multimedia/Design Innovation, Welding and Fabrication, CAD-CAM, and Entrepreneurship. These committees will collaborate with Department Heads, Lead Facilitators, and student representatives to validate curricula, offer technical guidance for projects, participate in industry juries, and facilitate hands-on industry immersion experiences for faculty and students.

Constance Swaniker, the Founder and President of DTI, emphasized that this initiative ensures that training at the Institute is developed in close collaboration with industry. The establishment of these committees underscores DTI's commitment to producing graduates who meet the standards of Precision Quality, reflecting a rigorous, relevant, and responsive approach to Ghana's industrial and creative economy.
