‘Cut money’ no longer works in Bengal: PM Modi highlights Rs 3,000 aid to women

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the previous Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, stating that "cut money" no longer applies as funds from the Annapurna Yojana reached nearly 1.5 crore women's bank accounts. Announced on his birthday during an Annapurna Day event, this Rs 3,000 monthly assistance aims to boost women's self-confidence by addressing household expense concerns.

Modi highlighted that mothers and sisters played a crucial role in the BJP's electoral victory in May 4. Instantly upon taking office, the new government initiated work on the scheme, resulting in women now receiving money directly into their bank accounts. There is no longer any "cut money" in Bengal, according to Modi. Addressing financial assistance, safety, child marriage, and drug-free West Bengal at the event, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari criticized the former Mamata Banerjee government without mentioning her name.

He emphasized that the current administration seeks systemic reform, with women now set to become owners of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with all agreements executed in their names. The government has already provided the fourth installment of Rs 3,000 to over 1.5 crore women, and will continue crediting funds to the remaining eligible applicants throughout the day.

Adhikari also pledged that the government will not tolerate oppressors, reaffirming its commitment to women's security.
