Come Clean On Missing N30bn LG Funds, NNPP Candidate Tells Adekanmbi

Adebiyi Adedapo, the gubernatorial candidate of the NNPP in Oyo State, has challenged Bimbo Adekanmbi, the APM candidate, to openly discuss the missing N30 billion in local government funds. Adedapo accused Adekanmbi of dodging accountability by blaming the state government and local councils. This came after Adekanmbi made claims during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, denying any involvement in the missing funds and asserting that the issue was solely local government's responsibility.

Adekanmbi stated that he never attended any Joint Accounts Committee (JAC) meetings and that the records related to the funds were accessible. He clarified that the funds went missing within the local government and emphasized that he had no impact on them. However, Adedapo disagreed with Adekanmbi's explanation, stating that the people of Oyo State have the right to a transparent account of the funds and the officials who managed them.

Adedapo argued that it is unacceptable for a state governor to evade responsibility for financial matters during their tenure. He asserted that Oyo State residents should know exactly where the money went, who handled it, and what part the Finance Ministry played. Adedapo called on Adekanmbi to explain his knowledge of the alleged transactions, his role in managing local government finances during his administration, and make all relevant records public instead of shifting blame.
