Capital FM turns 30 with Third Flow Experience putting Kenyan music centre stage

Capital FM is marking its 30th anniversary by celebrating Kenyan musicians and DJs through the Third Flow Experience, a concert featuring three generations of local talent at The Stables Magnate City in Limuru. This deliberate decision by the station aims to showcase the musicians, DJs, and sounds that have shaped Kenya's music scene over the years, instead of featuring international performers.

The lineup represents three distinct eras of Capital FM's journey: 1996-2006 (The Pioneers), 2006-2016 (Culture Shapers), and 2016-2026 (The Next Flow). Each era includes artists who represent different periods of Kenya's evolving music scene and have contributed to the station's cultural landscape. Capital FM founder Lynda Holt recently returned to the station for an interview, reflecting on her journey and the decision to hand over ownership to Dr. Chris Kirubi, who took the station to new heights while preserving its identity.

The anniversary celebrations have also reunited familiar faces, including former presenters Eric Latiff, Laura Walubengo, Maqbul Mohamed, Renee Ngamau, Amina Abdi Rabar, DJ Joe Mfalme, Muthoni Bwika, DJ Tumz, and many others, who shared their experiences and memories at Capital FM. The Third Flow Experience aims to highlight the evolution of Kenyan music through music, DJs, memories, and the shared experience of listeners who have witnessed the station's transformation over three decades.
