Bamanga Tukur: Shettima visits family, pays tribute to late elder statesman

Vice President Kashim Shettima paid tribute to the late Bamanga Tukur, describing him as a man who led an exemplary life. On Thursday, Shettima visited the family of the late elder statesman in Adamawa State to console the people over his death. Shettima emphasized that Tukur's passing was a celebration of life, as he had died at a ripe old age surrounded by loved ones. The former chairman of the PDP breathed his last on September 12 in Abuja and was laid to rest the next day in Yola.

Shettima, while addressing journalists at Tukur's personal residence in Yola, expressed that Nigeria would deeply miss Tukur's wealth of wisdom. He highlighted Tukur's successful business career as a managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority and his influence on politicians and businessmen alike. The Vice President, who had been sent by President Bola Tinubu to console the people of Adamawa, praised Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for standing by Tukur's family during this difficult time.

Shettima also visited the Lamido of Adamawa Emirate and the Chairman of the Adamawa State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, Muhammadu Barkindo Mustapha. They both thanked the Federal Government for identifying with the people of Adamawa during this time of mourning. Tukur, who passed away three days before his 91st birthday, leaves behind two wives, 18 biological children, and several adopted children.
