(Asiad) S. Korea beats Qatar in women's volleyball

In a strong performance, South Korea emerged victorious over Qatar in the women's volleyball match at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday, securing their spot for the quarterfinals. The game, held at Park Arena Komaki, marked the South Koreans' second preliminary group round win in the Pool D competition, alongside Hong Kong, Qatar, and Vietnam. With the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals, South Korea maintained their lead following a 3-0 win over Hong Kong the day before.

Throughout the match, South Korea showcased their dominance, achieving a total of 75 attacks, 13 service winners, and 10 blocks compared to Qatar's 22 attacks, zero service winners, and one block. The South Korean team capitalized on their early lead, recording a sequence of 10 consecutive points while middle blocker Park Eun-jin was serving, extending their lead to 21-4.

This dominance persisted throughout the match, as seen in the second and third sets where they recorded 14 spikes, six service winners, and four blocks respectively.

With these victories, South Korea solidified their position as the top team in Pool D, setting the stage for their next match against Vietnam on Friday. The outcome of this match will determine the first-place finisher in Pool D. The 20th Asian Games, the first of its kind in Japan in 32 years, officially commenced on Saturday, with various sports, including basketball, football, and volleyball, already underway.
