AC Milan suffers first defeat under Amorim with 2-0 loss to Benfica

AC Milan suffered their first defeat under manager Ruben Amorim with a 2-0 loss to Benfica in their Europa League opener on Wednesday. The Italian champions, champions of Europe seven times, had won their first two Serie A games and drawn two others, but were outplayed by the Portuguese side. Lyon bounced back from their play-off loss to Fenerbahce with a 2-1 win over Anderlecht, while Bayer Leverkusen defeated Celje 2-0 in Germany.
