2027: Dickson urges Tinubu, security agencies to douse political tension

Nigeria's National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, has called on President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to curb political tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections and ensure a safe atmosphere for political parties to campaign. Dickson also urged political actors to allow Nigerians to express their choices freely, warning against intimidation and violence as parties gear up for the elections.

The plea came as political parties and groups ramp up mobilisation and preparations for the 2027 polls. Dickson, speaking on Thursday, also thanked the Leadership Newspaper for selecting him as Politician of the Year 2026, stating that the honour belonged to the NDC leadership, members, and supporters, as well as Nigerians who support the party's vision.
