KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — A tragic accident unfolded on the North-South Expressway near Nilai this morning, resulting in the death of a woman and serious injuries to her sister and a motorcyclist. According to Berita Harian, the incident took place around 9am when a lorry collided with a stalled car, which had broken down on the road.

The motorcyclist, who had stopped to assist the woman in moving the car, was also struck during the collision. Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya informed that the police were alerted about the accident at 9.01am, receiving reports from the Nilai district police operations room. Johari revealed that the Perodua Axia, driven by a 32-year-old woman, was en route from Melaka towards Perak when it broke down and came to a halt in the second lane from the left.

A 22-year-old man on a Honda RS 150 approached the scene to help the woman. However, a 24-year-old man driving a lorry failed to notice both the car and the motorcyclist. The lorry collided with the rear of the Perodua Axia and struck the motorcyclist providing aid. The driver of the Axia sustained severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer.

The other occupants of the car, a 39-year-old woman and the motorcyclist, suffered serious injuries and were treated at the red zone of Hospital Tuanku Jaafar.
