Sindh Bans Issuance of New Arms Licences

The Sindh government has recently imposed a mandatory ban on the issuance of new arms licences and arms dealership licences across the province, pending further directives. The Sindh home minister's spokesperson confirmed that all licensing bodies are obligated to cease issuing new arms licences during the imposed ban. This directive extends to the suspension of new licences for arms dealerships.

The government's objective, as per the spokesperson, is to enhance the regulation and oversight of firearms throughout Sindh. However, there is an allowance for the issuance of arms licences in exceptional circumstances after receiving specific approval from the competent authority, which includes the home minister or the chief minister, as per the relevant rules and procedures.
