Sanjukta Parashar, a 2006-batch IPS officer from Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has become the first woman Inspector General of the CRPF's elite CoBRA unit. Known as the "Iron Lady of Assam," Parashar has earned this nickname through her hands-on approach to policing, particularly during her tenure as Superintendent of Police in Assam's Sonitpur district, where she dealt with militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland.
Her appointment comes as CoBRA continues to operate in challenging terrains affected by armed insurgency.
