Samsung May Raise Galaxy S26 Prices Months After Launch

Samsung is reportedly contemplating a price increase for its Galaxy S26 series, seven months after the phones became available. While no final decision has been made, South Korean reports suggest a uniform price hike of approximately $110 per model could be introduced in the country, effective from October 1. The new prices would make the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra more expensive in Samsung's home market.

Samsung's internal review is driven by rising component costs, particularly memory chips, which have soared by more than 80% in the second quarter compared to the previous period, and are now estimated to be around 300% higher than a year earlier. Memory has become the most expensive component in smartphone production, surpassing even the processor.

Samsung's mobile division incurred a second-quarter operating loss of around 700 billion won and reportedly paid about 211% more for mobile memory in the first half of the year compared to the same period a year ago. The company may pass the higher costs to customers when launching new models, but is also considering raising prices for its current flagship phones.
