Police, Central agencies targeting Left in Keralam: T.P. Ramakrishnan

T.P. Ramakrishnan, leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, has accused the police and Central agencies of targeting political opponents in the state. At a press conference on Wednesday, Ramakrishnan expressed concern over the use of law enforcement to suppress dissent. He alleged that the government has been utilizing the police and foreign intelligence agencies to dismantle the Left forces in Kerala.

Ramakrishnan also criticized the raid on the Reporter TV office, stating that it violated legal procedures. The raid began at 6 a.m., while the First Information Report (FIR) was filed at 9:45 a.m., he pointed out. This kind of targeted harassment of independent media cannot be justified, he added. Ramakrishnan further raised concerns over the "double standard" in investigations and issues related to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

He pointed out that when a social media handler for the CMO was accused in a drug case, the investigation was stalled. Additionally, he cited the case of Vijayan's daughter T. Veena, who was investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over alleged pay-outs from her now-defunct company to another. Ramakrishnan argued that this was not a mere financial dispute but part of a politically motivated crackdown on the CPI(M) and the Left.
