Police: Body found in Perak waters, believed to be missing Perak angler

KLANG, September 16 — The search and rescue operation for three missing anglers in Perak intensified after a body was discovered in the Bagan Sungai Belukang waters, believed to be among them. Deputy police chief Supt Mohd Rahimi Zainol announced the tragic find, noting the body was found in a drum with a life jacket and was being identified at a hospital.

Survivors included Mohd Shairazi Abdul Aziz, 43, Mohd Rizal Mohamad Sadali, 45, Mohammed Hamiszar Punirain, 45, and boat skipper Zulfikalnain Awang, 47. The three still missing were Muhamad Ridzuan Ruhaizat, 37, Mohd Shahril Abd Rahman, 43, and Raja Mohd Rozi Raja Mohamad, 49. According to survivors' accounts, all victims had to tie themselves to drums due to dehydration following a capsized boat.

They held hands and formed a group of seven. Deputy police chief Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan and Selangor MMEA officer Lt Mohd Syafiq Sazali inspected the scene and visited the families of the victims. The third day of the SAR operation focused on the Selangor-Perak border, with earlier mobilization based on updated SAR simulations. The operation was activated on September 5 after MMEA received information about the missing anglers, with four found safe in Sekinchan's waters on the second day before treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital and Banting Hospital.
