Police arrest man for defilement of six-year-old stepdaughter in Edo

The Oyo State Police Command in Nigeria has apprehended a suspect in connection with a land dispute that occurred in the town of Eruwa. This information was shared by the Public Relations Officer of the police command, Olayinka Ayanlade, in a statement released to the DAILY POST. Eruwa is situated within the Ibarapa geopolitical zone. According to Ayanlade, the suspect, identified as Agboola Emmanuel, was apprehended following the incident.

The dispute came to light on Monday, when Emmanuel was reported for an assault. Detective work led them to the scene where the altercation took place. The investigation revealed that on September 11, 2026, around 12:00pm, the victim visited a farmland situated between Eruwa and Ayete, in Abule Oba-Gboru Village, via Okanlawon village. This location has been the center of a land dispute.

At the farmland, Emmanuel, along with Dare Agboola 'M' and Monday 'M', were involved in charcoal production using firewood. Tensions rose, culminating in an altercation where the three men allegedly used machetes to injure the victim. During the investigation, Emmanuel confessed his involvement and provided information leading to the identification of the other two men implicated in the attack. Emmanuel is currently in police custody.
