PM Modi Urges Semiconductor CEOs To Support India's Next Phase Of Chip Ecosystem Growth

New Delhi, September 16 - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed leading semiconductor CEOs in a roundtable discussion, urging their support for the nation's next stage of growth in the chip ecosystem. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and the industry to shape India's technology future.

He praised India's strong foundation of talent, technology adoption and infrastructure, and called for greater involvement of the industry in skills development, innovation, and emerging technologies like AI and Quantum Computing. During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized unequivocal support from the Centre for the semiconductor industry, a predictable and responsive policy environment, and continued focus on skills training, innovation, and infrastructure upgrades.

CEOs from major global organizations including SEMI, Micron, Infineon, Applied Materials, ASML, and others attended the meeting. PM Modi urged India to become an early leader in emerging technologies and noted significant progress in the semiconductor sector, stating that the ecosystem is now shifting from foundational efforts to a phase of greater scale and opportunity.

He reiterated the government's commitment to a predictable policy environment and invited industry leaders to share suggestions on policy measures, assuring them their input would be considered in further strengthening the sector.
