PM bakal undang Presiden Myanmar, percepat proses hantar pulang Rohingya

Perdana Menteri Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim is set to invite Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing for a formal visit to Malaysia, in a bid to expedite the repatriation process of approximately 200,000 Rohingya refugees currently residing in the country. The diplomatic move comes as a growing concern and anger among local communities over the Rohingya crisis.

Earlier discussions suggest that Myanmar has agreed to accept 5,000 Rohingya refugees periodically, with the first batch of 1,500 expected to return within the next two weeks. Anwar emphasizes the importance of both nations maintaining friendly relations, trading, and cooperation, but insists that Myanmar must accept their return.

Speaking in an audio clip from Sembang Oh Yeah program, he mentions that Malaysia is ready to cover logistical costs, including clothing, food, and fuel for the repatriation process, which is far more cost-effective compared to managing refugees in detention centers, which cost between RM50 to RM200 daily per person. Anwar also reminds that the refugee crisis stems from previous government policies that encouraged large gatherings to demand their presence at some point in the past.
