Obama mourns family dog Sunny

Former U.S. President Barack Obama mourned the death of Sunny, his Portuguese Water Dog who was part of the family for 13 years. In a post on X, Obama described the energetic and affectionate companion who joined the Obama family at the beginning of his second term. Sunny, known for her high energy, enjoyed chasing squirrels, birds, and leaping over the hedges on the South Lawn.

Unlike his other dog Bo, Sunny preferred playing and spending time with the family, particularly the daughters. She was especially protective of Bo, recognizing he was not always as attentive as her. Obama fondly remembered Sunny's protective nature and her unique habits, recalling her as "pretty much perfect" to the family until her final days.
