No seat requests yet, says Sanusi after Kedah Umno-Pas meeting

Kedah PAS and Umno are cautiously exploring the possibility of political cooperation, according to Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor. The two parties are currently focused on creating a positive atmosphere for further discussions, and no seat allocation requests have been made at this stage, Sanusi stated. The New Straits Times reported that Sanusi, who also serves as PAS central election director, mentioned that it is still premature to discuss seat allocations as Umno has not yet requested any.

He emphasized that follow-up discussions will take place once a decision is made at the central level regarding cooperation between the two parties. Sanusi clarified that the meeting between the Kedah Umno leadership and PAS representatives, led by Kedah Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, was not indicative of formal cooperation.

Instead, he described it as an initial step towards fostering a more positive environment between the two parties. The meeting provided an opportunity for leaders from both sides to share their political experiences and discuss Kedah's future prospects. Sanusi praised the Umno veterans for their experience and understanding of Kedah's political landscape, calling it a conversation between seasoned politicians who comprehend the intricacies of the region's politics.
