Missing Klang angler found dead in Perak waters

A missing angler who had been reported as lost since Sunday was discovered floating in the waters off Hutan Melintang, Perak, on Monday morning. North Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol informed that a search and rescue team had been alerted to the discovery by a group of local fishermen around 8:30 AM.

The body was subsequently transferred to Hutan Melintang Jetty by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). Identification by relatives confirmed that the deceased was 43-year-old Mohd Sharil Abd Rahman. The body will now be sent to Shah Alam Hospital for a post-mortem examination, according to Embol.

Embols also announced that a search was underway for the remaining two missing anglers, conducted jointly by law enforcement agencies including police, Maritime Malaysia, the Fire and Rescue Department, and Civil Defence Force. All parties involved agreed to provide further updates as the situation unfolds. By Monday, four out of the seven missing anglers were found safe in the waters off Sekinchan.

They were identified as Mohd Shairazi Abdul Aziz, 43; Muhd Hamiszar Punirain, 45; Mohd Rizal Mohamad Sadali, 45; and Zulfikalnain Awang, 47. The incident initially came to light on Monday when the police received reports that seven local men, who had set out to fish from Sementa Jetty in Sungai Kapar, Klang, on Sunday, had not returned as planned.
