Veteran Nigerian actor Olu Jacobs, also known as Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, passed away at the age of 84. His death was announced by his son, Olusoji Jacobs, on Instagram. Jacobs had a distinguished career spanning over five decades, with a focus on theatre, television, and film. Born in Kano and raised in Abeokuta, Jacobs developed an early passion for acting through school drama, debating, and church programs.

He was inspired to pursue acting professionally after watching a performance by Hubert Ogunde. Jacobs trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, which laid a solid foundation for his career. He worked with various British theatres and television productions, including shows like The Goodies, Till Death Us Do Part, and The Professionals.

Jacobs returned to Nigeria in the 1970s and became a prominent figure in the country's entertainment industry.
