Labadi Beach Hotel Files To Drop Suit Against Polo Beach Club

Hotel Investments (Ghana) Limited, owners of Labadi Beach Hotel, have submitted a request to withdraw a lawsuit they filed against Spartan Ives Limited, the operators of Polo Beach Club. This application was submitted just three days after Polo Beach Club lawyers filed a motion to halt the hotel's actions, allegedly under the direction of the National Security Council Secretariat's Director of Special Operations, Richard Jakpa.

The motion requested the court's permission to entirely drop the case against the defendant and any further orders the court deemed necessary. Labadi Beach Hotel previously filed an amended writ of summons and statement of claim on March 18, 2026, claiming ownership of the disputed beachfront land. However, the hotel has now decided to discontinue the lawsuit following a reassessment of the expenses and operational impact of the legal action.

The hotel stated that this decision is a "commercial one," without admitting to the validity of the Club's claims or the rights they assert. The hotel is seeking the court's permission to discontinue the suit against Polo Beach Club "with liberty to reapply." The court has the authority, under Order 17 of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2004, to grant the hotel's request to withdraw the lawsuit.

The hotel's affidavit supporting this application argued that it is in the interest of justice to grant this application.
