Katsina Approves N31m for Early Childhood Education

Francis Sardauna in Katsina The Katsina State Government has approved N31 million for the training of early childhood education teachers and the procurement of learning materials to strengthen Early Childhood

The Katsina State Government has approved N31 million to enhance early childhood education in the region. This funding will be used to train 100 educators and purchase specialized learning materials for ECCDE (Early Childhood Care, Development and Education) learners. Dr. Kabir Magaji, Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), announced this decision during an interview with THISDAY.

The funds will be used to commence teacher training within two weeks and procure necessary materials after approval from the state’s Bureau of Public Procurement. Additionally, the state has established a dedicated Early Child Education and Special Programmes Department within SUBEB to focus on early childhood education and special needs.

In 2024, the government constructed six ECCDE centers across the state, and in 2025, nine more were built to improve access to educational facilities. These newly constructed centers are equipped with classrooms, restrooms, toilets, and age-appropriate play materials. Magaji expressed confidence that the approved funds would be fully utilized, noting that past approvals under the Radda-led administration have successfully translated into projects and programs.
