Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's London fan event was abruptly canceled on Tuesday due to safety concerns raised by the Metropolitan Police. Hundreds of eager fans, who had been waiting in line for hours, were left disappointed when a spokesperson announced over a loudspeaker: "For public safety concerns, we are calling off the programme because we don't have permission."

Vijay is currently in the UK representing his state with a delegation that has secured Memorandums of Understanding amounting to Rs 12,300 crore, expected to create over 9,400 jobs in Tamil Nadu. The state is set to become a center for advanced manufacturing and technology.

The news of the event cancellation comes as Delhi University grapples with a funding shortage for hostel expansions in affiliated colleges. The lack of dormitory space, combined with regulatory hurdles like forest protections and heritage restrictions, has left thousands of students without adequate accommodation options.
