IGNOU July Admission 2026: Registration deadline extended till Sep 30; check steps to apply

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for July 2026 fresh admissions to September 30, 2026, for online programmes with the exception of certificate and semester-based programmes. Candidates interested in applying through the open and distance learning (ODL) mode must utilize the university’s Samarth admission portal, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

To apply online, students should visit the website and review the eligibility criteria for their chosen course. The step-by-step guide to applying is as follows:

1. Visit the official IGNOU Samarth admission portal: ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

2. If registering for the first time, click on the fresh admission option.

3. Register online by providing personal and contact details.

4. Existing registrants can use their credentials to log in.

5. Use the generated credentials to sign in.

6. Select the desired programme and complete the application form.

7. Upload the required documents in the suggested format.

8. Pay the prescribed application and admission fee online.

It is important to note that the registration fee is non-refundable, and applications can only be cancelled through the login without a refund. Before admission confirmation, any paid fees will be refunded as per the university's rules, with a deduction of 15% of the programme fee (up to Rs 2,000) and only the registration fee being refundable for soft-copy study material.

Students with fee exemptions will only receive a refund of the development fee. No refunds will be granted after 60 days from the admission closing date.
